One aspect about the Core Values that I found key throughout was an emphasis on literacy in a multitude of areas, not just a track down one’s own major. For example, in Section 6, there are required classes for the arts and humanities track, but there is also a class in laboratory science to further broaden one’s mind as to what else is out there to know, as well as how it relates back to one’s own primary studies. This is in part why I did choose UNE, as it not only has a variety of fields to study in, but access to an excellent science program, an area I have always had interest in. But the fact that UNE does have such a emphasis on trying to form a well-rounded individual shows how forward thinking and complete a student the institution tries and make.
Do other schools have such an emphasis on environmentalism as a key area?
How do critical thinking classes work at UNE?
