For Academic goals, first off the bat is keeping up with work. As a chronic procrastinator, I have to get used to creating a proper schedule or outline of when I need to do work, and sticking to it. Beyond that, another near term goal I marked down is to stay engaged in classes, since I have to get used to classes that have the potential to be almost three hours long, and a factor of that is to always make sure to get plenty of rest and just keep myself participating in classes. Longer term, I marked down the goal of actively looking for classes that aren’t just requirements or help me get some other end-term goal, but truly fascinate me and may be a bit out of my areas of expertise. Another goal I set was to always keep curious and keep thinking outside of the box, not to get hemmed in as I go further down my major’s path.
For personal goals, I thought about rudimentary current goals, to get my groundwork under me. So I thought about how I do want to be more social, and get used to and involved in the campus that I’m now residing at. Beyond that, I also further wanted to figure out which times do work best for me to to do what, and when I can have some time to myself. For longer term goals, I furthered my social emphasis as to be more outgoing and be willing to communicate in more situations, even ones I’m more unfamiliar with. Beyond that, just trying to figure out where I do indeed want to shape my academic path and what to do with the information that I’ll have learned in my time here. To really learn what I can do with the person I will have become.
